Buna Ziua from Romania!

Week one on the field has been chock full of twists and turns but the Lord’s presence has not been absent! My squad (M-Squad) spent approximately 2 days travelling from Gainesville, GA to Craiova, Romania. For those of you keeping track at home that breaks down into:

Gainesville → Atlanta (2 hours: bus)

Atlanta → Paris (8 hours: plane)

 *3 hour layover in Paris*

Paris → Bucharest (3 hours: plane)

Bucharest → Craiova (5-ish hours: bus)

While it makes me tired just typing out the travel day recap, I am happy to report that we all made it in one piece with no delays, no cancellations, and only one lost bag! (PRAISE GOD!)

Everything looked great until some of our Squad Mates woke up with cold-like symptoms. After a few at home rapid tests it was confirmed: COVID. Since that first positive test, the days have been a blur of food deliveries, Zoom Calls, room switch, and nostril swabs. But again, through it all, God’s presence has been evident.

My proud membership of the Quarenteam was established on Sunday 8/15 when I tested positive from COVID. Asymptomatic. As of right now, we are still in quarantine until further notice. I didn’t think that our first week of ministry would be confined to these four walls, but here we are. While sickness and quarantine are meant to make us feel isolated, I have felt an overwhelming peace being surrounded by my make-shift family in our days filled with prayer, worship, card games, and tons of laughter.

Please pray for our team to have a speedy recovery and lifted spirits for the rest of quarantine. Also, please pray for our mission hosts here in Romania and for the community of Craiova.

  11. Claran,
Thought about you and your “band of worriers”last night as we talked about what Jesus told his disciples that one day they would do even greater things than Him. What do you suppose Jesus meant? We determined it was about making disciples of all nations!! It was about going out and bringing to the lost the Good News of Christ and sharing the gift of salvation and eternal life!! Maybe we’re wrong but it seems to be the greatest thing we as Christ followers can and should do. Miss and love you much!!

  12. Hebrews 10:24 ” Let us consider how we may encourage one another….” It is always nice to hear a compliment or for someone to take the time to listen to our problems and give us an idea or way to make our situation better, or even just to send us a smile as they pass our way. But in this verse God is asking more of us. We are to give out encouragement as well as receiving it. So today I send out my encouragement. Whatever your day brings know that I I think you are the BEST and I am ready to listen and pray with and for you. And here is a smile to help you through the day. (:
